5 Simple Ways to Be the Fun Mom
Even if you thrive on routine and structure, you can still be the fun mom! It’s time to loosen the reigns a bit, and spend quality time with your kids.
When it comes to setting priorities as a parent, having fun doesn’t always become a top priority. As parents, we focus on rules and structure to make sure our kids are safe.
It’s not hard to spot the “fun mom.” She can usually be found laughing and playing with her kids, and taking them on fun adventures.
Be the Fun Mom This Summer
Here is how you can learn to be the fun mom this summer without spending a lot of money!
Be full of surprises
Kids love to be surprised, especially when treats are involved. Surprise your kids with a homemade dessert after dinner when they don’t expect it.
Even a bowl of ice cream after dinner as a family can be fun!
Do activities together
You don’t have to plan elaborate days out together in order to be a fun mom. Your kids just want to spend time with you, and will be happy even if it means running errands in town.
The next time you go to the library to return a book, take your kids and turn it into an afternoon out!
Make family game night a regular event
Family game nights are a great way to have fun as a family, without spending a lot of money. Dig out those board games from the closet and put them to use!
If you don’t have many board games, or yours are falling apart, pick up a deck of Uno cards next time you’re at the store. You can also use apps on your phone to play games. You can play Heads Up or a number of other games at no cost.
Have movie nights
Break out the popcorn or a box of candy and create your own at home cinema. This is a great way to spend time together, and still have fun!
If you want to take the fun level up a notch, let them invite friends over for movie nights too.
Make your kids laugh
Whether it’s a funny YouTube video or a tickle fight, it doesn’t take much to make your kids burst with laughter.
There are tons of fun ways you can make your kids laugh such as playing a fun game or laughing at funny memories.
Don’t hover
This is probably one of the most important rules of being a fun mom. As moms, we tend to be the fun police by hovering over our children when they plan.
Give them their space and step back for just a second. If they are reading a book, you hovering is probably more distracting than anything else.
You don’t have to let your kids do whatever they want to be the fun mom. It doesn’t take much effort or even money to loosen the reigns and let in more room for fun.
More summer fun!
