After reading this story with your preschoolers, serve up some tasty acorn cookies. These Nutter Butter acorn cookies are a breeze to make, and they’re so yummy.
Go on a nature walk to collect acorns. Add them to your nature center. Or, use a hand lens to explore them close up. Pay attention to the detail on the cap. Split one open to find the seed inside.
Pretend to be the acorn in this story. Sway in the wind. Drop to the ground. Hunch over like a buried acorn. Slowly stretch all the way to the sky.
Use some of the acorns to do a fun process-art project. Line a tray or box with art paper. Squeeze a little bit of paint in the bottom of the box. Drop in a few acorns and shake. Continue shaking and tilting the box to see the acorn roll through the paint and make a fun design.
