Bear Paper Plate Craft

This simple woodland animal activity uses inexpensive supplies like a paper plate, cardstock, paint, and googly eyes to create an adorable bear face. This simple preschool craft is a great addition to a forest animal theme, hibernation unit, or letter B lesson.

Paper Plate Bear Craft

A bear paper plate craft is an easy preschool activity made with a painted paper plate, cardstock ears and muzzle, googly eyes, and simple craft supplies. It helps children practice fine motor skills while creating a fun woodland animal to display or use during storytime.

Supplies

• Paper plate
• Brown craft paint
• Paintbrush
• Googly eyes
• Colored cardstock or construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Black marker
• Bear template (click the “click here” button at the end of this post)

Directions

Print the template.
Start by printing the bear face template. Then, grab some scissors and cut out all the pieces.

Paint the paper plate.
Turn the paper plate upside down. Paint the bottom (outside) of the plate brown and allow it to dry completely before adding a second coat if needed.

Trace the pieces on cardstock or construction paper.
Use the template pieces to trace each shape on colored cardstock or construction paper. You can use craft foam, as well.
We used brown paper for the out ears, pink for the inner ears, black for the nose, and light brown for the muzzle.

Assemble the face.
Glue the inner ears to the outer ears lining up the pieces at the bottom. Paste the nose to the muzzle.

Glue the muzzle to the bottom half of the plate. Glue the ears behind the top of the plate.

Add the finishing touches.
Use a round sponge dauber to dab pink cheeks on the muzzle on either side of the nose.

Use a black marker to draw the mouth. And, you’re done!
