6 Ways to Spend Quality Time with Your Child

After a long day of chores and running errands, you’re exhausted. Have you ever realized that after a long day, you didn’t get to spend much quality time with your kid?

You might have enjoyed a fun audiobook or listened to some classics in the car. You may have enjoyed listening to your child’s narrative about their day, but when was the last time you truly spent one on one time with your child?

I’m going to take a guess and say that it is longer than you intended. Don’t be discouraged, you’re not alone. I’m just as guilty as you are of switching to autopilot and riding through the days with my head just above water. Even on the weekends when things are supposed to slow down, I find myself playing catch up from the week.

If you are needing to spend some good quality time with your kids, here are a few ways you can do that! These six suggestions are not only fun but frugal!

Life doesn’t always have to be this way. Every once in awhile, you can make time for your kids even if it’s only a short amount of time.

I get that you may not have much uninterrupted time to spend with your kids each day, but there are tons of ways you guys can spend quality time together without ruining your productivity.

If you are needing to spend some quality time with your kids, here are a few ways you can do that!

Spend Quality Time with Your Child

Cook Together

You have to cook in order to put dinner on the table so why not enlist the help of your children! This will not only teach them skills to cook on their own later in life, but you will get to spend quality time putting together family recipes!

Read a Book Together

Whether your child has learned to read yet or not, it can be fun to read a book together. Go to the library each week and let them pick out a book to read aloud each week. If your child has learned to read, take turns reading to each other.

Watch a Movie Together

Movie nights are a great way to bond without much pre-planning. You can let your kids pick the movie. You could rewatch an old favorite. Or, you can surprise them with a new one. Any way you do it, movie nights are great for family bonding.

Play a Game Together

It can be a board game, a made up game, or even something like Pictionary. Playing games is a great way to spend time together, and you can even do this while dinner is in the oven!

Do a Craft Together

There are hundreds of crafts for kids on the internet, and most of them can be done with supplies from your own home! This is a great way to encourage creativity and spend time together at the same time.

Have a Breakfast Date

If you don’t have a lot of time during the day, wake your kids up early and take them to breakfast before school. Even if you only make it as far as McDonald’s it’s still time you can spend eating together and enjoying some quality time.

Spending quality time with your kids don’t require an entire day, or sometimes even hours, of your time. Put away the distractions even if you only have a few minutes, and make the most of the time you have together. Even if you’re short on time, try to get your kids involved in what you’re doing. Before you know it, spending quality time with your kids will happen all the time!
