Pot of Gold Paper Plate Craft for Kids

This paper plate craft is simple to prepare for your kids. You’ll need just a few simple craft supplies and a few minutes. And, you’ll have this paper plate craft ready in no time. 

What You’ll Need

• Paper plate

Yarns in rainbow colors

• Scissors

Single hole punch

Markers: black and green

Yellow pony beads


What You’ll Do

To start, fold your paper plate in half.

Most paper plates have a ridged boarder, trace this to form the inside circle. The pot of gold is simply a circle with a long skinny rectangle on top.

Any shaped pot will do. Just make sure the top rim is large enough to create six hole punches. Now, cut out the shape with scissors.

Hole punch 6 holes along the top of the pot of gold, one for each color of the rainbow.  5. Hole punch along the inside circle of the plate.  6. Color the pot of gold black, the bottom green for grass.  7. Start with the red yarn on the first pot of gold hole punch, thread through and tie to secure. Then thread through the boarder hole and back at the pot. Sporadically add a yellow pony bead to the yarn before threading it back through the next hole to fill the pot with gold (beads).  8. Follow this technique with all the colors of the rainbow, each color will have it’s own hole at the top of the pot of gold. Secure each end on the back with a knot.  9. Your lucky rainbow pot of gold is complete

Use the hole punch to punch six holes along the top rim of the pot of gold. You’ll want one hole for each color of the rainbow.

Using the hole punch, punch holes along the inside circle of the plate. It doesn’t matter how many holes you have here.

Now, let your child color the pot of gold black and the bottom green for grass.
