Christmas Tree Craft for Preschoolers
This craft stick Christmas tree is an easy and enjoyable project for preschoolers, allowing them to create their own holiday decoration.
What You’ll Need
- Craft sticks
- Acrylic paint – green, brown, assorted colors
- Silver shiny pipe cleaners
- Yellow cardstock or star stickers
- Glue dots
- Scissors
What You’ll Do
You will need 3 regular-size craft sticks and one mini craft stick per tree. Use glue dots (or white school glue) to adhere the three craft sticks together in a triangle.

If you aren’t using colored craft sticks, paint the triangle green. Let dry. While the triangle is drying, an adult must carefully cut a mini craft stick in half.
If you aren’t using colored sticks, paint the two halves of the mini craft stick brown. Use glue dots to adhere the two halves to the bottom of the triangle.

Now, dip the end of a paintbrush into your color bauble of choice. We used yellow and purple on one tree, pink and light blue on the other. Dot the end onto the triangle randomly.
Do the same with another color. Let dry.

Then, cut a star out of yellow cardstock. Or use star stickers for extra ease. Stick the star to the top of the triangle.
Finally, twist one end of a silver pipe cleaner around one side of the triangle to secure it. Wrap around the tree a few times. Twist the other end to secure in place.
