Secret Message Name Recognition Activity
Ok, I know you’re excited to get started. So, here we go………………………..
What You’ll Need
- White crayon
- White paper
- Watercolor paints
- A cup for the water
What You’ll Do
The first thing you’re going to do is take the white crayon, and write your child’s name on the white piece of paper. (I added a few hearts on her paper too.)
You’re going to want to make sure the crayon is on there kind of thick. SO, you might need to go over the writing a few times.
Then, I gave Grace the paper, watercolors, and cup with a little water in it. Needless to say, she was excited. She always loves painting or doing anything art related.
At this point I still haven’t said anything about the secret message. I just let her start painting. After a few minutes she started to realize there was something different about this paper and activity.
I then told her she had a very special piece of paper in front of her, and it had a secret message on it. All she had to do was use the paint to discover what the secret message was. Then she got really excited and started to pay closer attention as she was painting.
Once she started to get close to her entire name being uncovered she stood up and yelled “It’s me! I’m the secret message! It’s my name”! Best moment ever.
