Baa Baa Black Sheep Sequencing

Sequencing activities are important during the preschool years. These types of activities help little ones learn to make order of the things they encounter in their everyday lives.

Sequencing is also an important skill to build as children prepare to learn to read. When they can put story parts in order, they demonstrate comprehension and logical progression.

One easy place to start story sequencing is with nursery rhymes. And, Baa Baa Black Sheep is a fun one to use throughout the year. It’s perfect in spring when you’re talking about sheep or farm animals. You can use it in the fall as you prepare your Letter Bb and color black lessons, too.

This low-prep preschool activity is ready for you to print and go! Print the pages, cut them out, and sequence the rhyme. It’s as easy as that!

To start, read Baa, Baa, Black Sheep to your preschooler. Then, have them recite the rhyme with you.

Once your children are familiar with the rhythm and rhyme, have them assemble the sequencing activity. They’ll glue the flap book to the bottom of the background page and cut the flaps.

Then, as you recite the rhyme together one more time, they’ll glue the sequencing cards under the appropriate flap.

Finally, have them retell the rhyme using the sequencing cards they just glued down. That’s it! They’re all done!

Your preschoolers will love reciting the Baa, Baa, Black Sheep nursery rhyme over and over again as they lift the flaps on their sequencing book.
