Preparing the Worksheets

To get the free alphabet printables, enter your name and email address in the form at the bottom of this post.

Once you’ve downloaded the worksheets, print out the pages that you need for your preschoolers. You can make as many as you need for them.

These print-and-go worksheets are also great for homeschoolers, classroom teachers, occupational therapists, and children’s librarians.

If you’d like to make any of the pages reusable (not recommended for the color-by-letter pages), laminate them or slip them in a dry-erase pocket. Have children complete the activity with a dry-erase marker.

Completing the Activities

Before using our Letter B worksheets, it’s important to make sure that your child is familiar with the letter and its associated sound.

Start by pointing out objects in the home or environment that start with the letter B, such as books, balls, and bananas.

Once they have a basic understanding of what starts with the letter B, it’s time to introduce the worksheets.

Explain to your child what the worksheet is for, and how it can help them learn more about the letter B. Be sure to keep explanations short and straightforward so as not to overwhelm them.

Once they understand what the activity is all about, you can start doing the worksheets together.

Color by Letters

This free printable pack includes two color-by-letter activity pages. On each one, children will follow the color code to reveal the hidden images – an uppercase B and a lowercase b.

Not only do these color by code worksheets encourage children to follow directions, but they’re great for helping kids with letter recognition.

If your preschooler can’t read color words yet, feel free to shade in the crayon with the correct color and then have your kids match the color instead of the color word.

Color and Trace Pages

Coloring and tracing are both great fine motor skills. Coloring objects that begin with the letter Bb help kids learn the sound that “b” makes and introduces them to things that start with that sound.

Tracing the letters at the bottom of the page encourages children to practice proper pencil grip and letter formation.

You can also take a moment to point out to older children how the sentences at the bottom of the pages begin with capital letters and end with a period. This plants a seed for later when they begin learning about sentence structure.

Dot to Dot

Preschoolers will love connecting the dots from 1 to 59 to reveal a bicycle. When they’re done, they can color it and then trace the letters at the bottom of the page.

Tracing Lines

Tracing lines, as mentioned above, is a great motor skill builder. The bird-themed line tracing page is a great way to work on concentration, as well, as children work diligently to trace a variety of lines that go in all directions.

Do a Dot

Dot markers are a lot of fun for little ones. They’re a nice change of pace from pencils and crayons.

I love that they strengthen motor skills and hand-eye coordination as kids line up the marker to dot each circle.

On these pages, preschoolers will use dot markers to build the letters B and b as well as fill in the Bb circles on a banana.

Scissor Practice

Learning to use scissors correctly is an important preschool skill. So, we’ve included a scissor practice page in this pack.

Children will color a butterfly, trace the letters B and b, and then cut out the butterfly.

Q-tip Painting

I love offering a variety of fine motor skills in my free printables. Painting with q-tips is a lot of fun for little ones.

They will work on their pincer grasp while picking up and using the q-tip. And, they’ll fine-tune their hand-eye coordination as they align the q-tip with each dot outlining the balloon.

Letter Maze

One last activity included in this printable is a letter maze. Children will color in all of the squares that contain the letter B or b.
