When spring hits your town, be ready to teach your preschoolers about butterflies with some fun butterfly life cycle activities.
This life cycle of a butterfly coloring page is a great place to start. It features pictures showing each of the four stages of the life cycle of the butterfly.
You can point out the main features of each stage such as tiny eggs on a leaf, a caterpillar, a chrysalis, and the adult butterfly ready to start the cycle all over again.

Give each student a printed sheet, crayons or colored pencils, and instructions to color in each picture according to its stage in the butterfly’s life cycle.
As students work, review the life cycle of a butterfly and point out each stage on their worksheets.
After they finish coloring, have students share what they know about the life cycle of a butterfly.
You can even extend the activity by having older students write a sentence or two summarizing what they learned from this activity.
