It’s that time of year again! The kids are out of school and the days are long and lazy. But just because they’re on summer break doesn’t mean the learning has to stop.
There are plenty of ways to keep your preschooler or kindergartner engaged and excited about learning, even during the dog days of summer. And don’t forget to make learning fun!
With a little creativity and a few free preschool printables, you can make sure your child’s math skills are sharp all summer long.
Color by Numbers
Color by code worksheets are a great teaching tool for preschoolers. Not only do they help with number recognition, but they also provide an opportunity to practice color words. And best of all, they’re just plain fun!
Plus, they’re perfect when you need to occupy a group of kids for a few minutes (or longer). So, the next time you want to keep your preschoolers engaged, try using color-by-number printables. They might be the answer you’re looking for.
What is Included?
This summer themed color by number pack includes six summer-themed images for kids to color. These pictures include summer animals, summer treats, and more. The worksheets feature numbers 1-12. They include all the colors of the rainbow plus black, grey, brown, and flesh.
Preparing the Worksheets
This set of worksheets is print-and-go. This means, you just print them out and they’re ready for use with your preschoolers.
If your kids want to use markers or watercolors, you may want to print the pages on cardstock so they’re less likely to bleed through.
Completing the Activity
To complete these activity pages, your kids will follow the color code at the bottom of the page to reveal the hidden image.
Variations
If your preschooler isn’t ready to read and identify color words yet, set out only the crayons they’ll need to complete the page.
Use those crayons to color the color word on the worksheet. Then, preschoolers can use those as visual cues to decide which crayon to use.
