Winter Friends Count and Graph

While these pages are designed for preschoolers, they also work well as count and graph worksheets for kindergarten if your kindergartener needs a little extra practice with counting to ten and analyzing quantities.

This is a fun, no-prep count and graph math pack! Because it’s so easy to put together, it is perfect for busy preschool moms and teachers. It’s also super simple to use with your students individually or in a group setting.

To start the count and graph activity, demonstrate to your students how to find and count the first image. Count all the owls in the box at the top of the page, and write the number in the box under the owl. Continue in this manner to count the rest of the winter images.

Once your children have completed the I Spy portion, demonstrate to them how to graph their results.

Show them how to color one square for each image they found. I like to have my kids color each column a different color to help them better visualize the differences in each column.

Once they’ve completed the graph, ask questions to help your learners compare and analyze the data they’ve recorded in the graph. Which object had the most? Which had the least? How many owls and rabbits are there altogether? How many more pink birds are there than blue ones?

Variations

There are several ways you can use these preschool graphing worksheets with your kids. To use these pages in a classroom math center, print one copy of the graphing page for the center. Laminate it or slip it in a dry erase pocket.

Then, print out a graphing sheet for each student. Let your preschoolers write the numbers on the counting page with dry erase marker. Then, they can color their graphing page to be turned in for assessment.

You could also laminate the graphing page and let your students use dry erase markers, as well. This is a great way to make the activity reusable for both group and individual use.
