This activity is no-prep making it perfect or busy preschool moms and teachers. All you’ll need to do is print and go! You can also laminate for durability, but that’s optional.
There are so many ways to teach kids the life cycle of a sunflower. You can use plastic figures, or you can introduce the life cycle with a collection of great life cycle books.
How to Use the Counting Mats
Each playdough mat features a large numeral, a number word, life cycle images, and a counting frame.
Have your child put the mats in order. Review the life cycle stages on each one. Then, have your child build the number and the number word with playdough. They can also write them for a little handwriting practice.
Then, use playdough to build the seeds, sprouts, plants, and sunflower as you discuss the stages of the life cycle.
Finally, have them fill the counting frame with playdough balls as they count aloud.
