How to Use the Counting Mats

Each playdough mat features a large numeral, a number word, life cycle images, and a counting frame.

Have your child put the mats in order. Review the life cycle stages on each one. Then, have your child build the number and the number word with playdough. They can also write them for a little handwriting practice.

Then, use playdough to build the seeds, sprouts, plants, and sunflower as you discuss the stages of the life cycle.

Finally, have them fill the counting frame with playdough balls as they count aloud.

  1. Tara, I love that you have a passion to teach mommas at home. As a retired kindergarten teacher and now a part- time preschool teacher, I wish all parents and grandparents could hear you. I love your enthusiasm! Parents can teach all the time by just communicating with their children. They just don’t just realize it.
Thank you for all you do. I love your work.
    Good luck in your move.
