Leprechaun Number Sense Activity
To use this activity with your preschoolers, print all of the pages on cardstock for durability. I also prefer to laminate my pages. This helps them hold up to busy little hands.
Next, cut apart the number sense cards at the back (pages 12-14). Mix them up, and put them in a small basket.
Have your child choose a leprechaun mat and identify the number word at the top. This is the number their leprechaun is hungry for.
Now, they’ll need to sort through the basket for all of the number cards that represent that number. They’ll be looking for tallies, ten frames, numerals, and sets of shamrocks.
If you’re working with younger preschoolers, you may want to start out with just two leprechaun mats and corresponding cards so they don’t get overwhelmed.
As your little one demonstrates mastery, add in another number until you’ve got them working on the complete set.
