Snowman Pattern Printables

Snowman pattern printables are a great way for preschool and kindergarten kids to work on AB, ABC, AAB, and ABB patterns this winter.

These winter printables for preschool are a great way to help your little ones practice patterning as well as build motor skills.

Using clothespins to clip the snowmen that will finish each pattern helps build fine motor muscles in little hands and fingers.

These snowman activities for preschool are sure to be a great addition to your winter lessons. This pack includes 12 pages of pattern strips and pattern cards.

To make this pack portable, you can bind the strips with a binder ring and store the cards in a zipper pouch.

Snowman Pattern Printables

This activity takes just a little bit of time to prepare for your preschoolers, but it’s worth it. I suggest printing all of the pages on cardstock and laminating them for durability.

Cut apart the pattern strips so that you have three strips per page. Then, cut apart the snowman cards. Glue one of each color to the top of a clothespin.

Have your child clip a snowman to the blank space on each strip to finish the patterns. There are six strips for each pattern style – AB, ABC, AAB, and ABB.

As I mentioned above, you can make this activity portable. Punch a hole in the top left corner of each pattern strip. Bind them together with a binder clip.

Put a velcro dot in each blank space on the pattern strips. Then, put a velcro strip on the back of the snowman cards. Have your child attach a snowman to each strip to finish the patterns.

Variations

While filling in the missing snowman on each pattern strip is perfect for younger preschoolers, older preschoolers and kindergarteners may be ready for a bit of a challenge.

If so, here are a few things you can do to challenge your students. One option is to have your students continue the pattern. After clipping the snowmen to complete the pattern, have your child extend the pattern by adding more snowmen to the right of each strip.

You could also have them copy the pattern underneath the pattern strip. Use the extra snowman cards to make a copy of the pattern on their own. Can they then extend the pattern they just made?
