Preschoolers will have fun learning about 8 types of bears in this Let’s Learn About Bears preschool unit study! There are enough activities to span a week or more!
This preschool pack has over 60 pages, and it is designed to help you teach young learners all about bears! The pack includes activities that span science, math, literacy, motor skills, sensory fun, movement, and much more!
Fine motor control is important for writing, tying shoelaces, using scissors, and so much more. Little ones will focus on building those fine motor skills with 8 scissor practice pages, 5 lacing cards, tracing pages, and a “decorate the teddy bear” playdough mat.
This pack features several language arts/literacy activities geared toward kids in preschool and kindergarten. You’ll find a read-and-respond page which provides bear facts to share with your kids and questions for them to answer. This will help you gauge listening and/or reading comprehension.
You’ll find an early reader which follows a predictable pattern of “This is a … bear” and names each of the eight species of bears. This is a great tool for pre-readers and for beginning readers who are working on sight words.
There is also a set of cards featuring a collection of items that begin with the /b/ sound.
For math, there is a wide range of activities to use with your preschoolers. Count and Stack mats are a fun way to practice fine motor skills, number recognition, and counting.
Number sense cards encourage kids to identify each number represented and sort them accordingly.
Introduce preschoolers and kindergarteners to word problems with the addition mat and task cards. Or, have them work on counting and number recognition with the “build a number” mats.
You can’t study bears without learning facts about each species. Kids can match the clipart/real images of each type of bear. You can share the facts on the fact cards with them. Encourage them to compare and contrast two types with the Venn diagram included in this unit.
Older kids may want to try their hand at writing their first animal report. Younger kids will enjoy labeling the parts of a bear.
You can complete this entire unit in one week picking a couple of activities each day, or you can spread it over the course of a couple of weeks. No matter what you choose, your preschoolers and kindergarteners are going to love this Preschool Bear Theme Unit Study!
