  • I can write about stars.
  • If I went to outer space, I would…
  • Once I saw an alien, and…
  • From outer space I see…

If your little one has trouble writing the stories themselves, you could allow them to dictate their thoughts for you. Then, you can write their thoughts on the page for them.

Word Bank

There are sixteen vocabulary cards included. You could lay them out to aid your students in spelling big words. Or, you can have them choose a few cards to incorporate into their writing assignment.

Additional Ways to Use the Worksheets

In addition to writing, there are endless possibilities for additional activities that can be done with the prompts.

Try having your child draw a picture to go along with their story, or act it out with toys. The sky’s the limit!

Preschool Space Books

Preschoolers can learn about outer space through books that are specifically geared towards their age group.

Some great examples include Night Sky by Stephanie Drimmer, The Planets by Gail Gibbons, and The Planets in Our Solar System by Franklyn M. Branley.

These titles can help introduce preschoolers to the different planets and stars in our solar system, as well as various space-related topics like astronauts and spacecraft.

Space Activities for Kids

If you’re looking for some fun space activities for your preschooler, you’ve come to the right place! One simple but enjoyable activity is to make a homemade mobile of the solar system. You can use styrofoam balls of different sizes to represent the planets, and then suspend them from the ceiling using string or fishing wire.

Another idea is to create a galaxy in a jar. Start by painting the inside of a Mason jar black, and then add glitter, sequins, and other small embellishments to create a star-filled sky.

For a tasty space-themed treat, try making planet cookies! Using store-bought sugar cookie dough, cut out circles of dough and then decorate them with icing and sprinkles to resemble the different planets.

These are just a few ideas to get you started – have fun exploring the limitless possibilities of outer space with your little one!
