An Engaging Online Preschool Math Program
How can you teach preschool math to kids who hate worksheets? Try this amazing online preschool math program that is engaging AND fun!
This post is sponsored by CTCMath. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Two of my three kids were avid workbook fans. We stocked up on workbooks when we went to the dollar store, and they would blow through them in no time.
My middle son, on the other hand, balked at any and all written work. He didn’t like to color, draw, or write. If an activity required pencil and paper, I could count on a struggle.
So, we looked for hands-on activities to solidify math concepts. And, we reviewed with online games and activities.
Online Preschool Math Program
CTCMath is an online math program designed for kids in grades K-12. Don’t worry, though. The beginning lessons in the Kindergarten level are appropriate for preschoolers. The lessons start with learning to count to 5 and then progress from there.
Easy Set Up
CTCMath is so easy to set up. You will create a parent account, and add your child/ren as students. Then, your kids are ready to go.
The Lessons
The lessons are short! All of the lessons begin with a short video teaching a specific skill. By short, I mean less than 10 minutes long. Of the ones I watched, they averaged about 4 minutes. The “teacher” explains the concept while an animated video “shows” what he is talking about. When the video is over, there is a series of questions for your child to answer.
A Quick Word About the Questions
While I think it is appropriate to have your preschooler watch the video on his own, in case you need to step away for a moment, you will want to be back beside him when it is time to answer questions.
While the teacher will read the question aloud if your child clicks the “speaker” icon beside the question, you child may need your help the answers. You can see in the screenshot below that this particular question requires a bit of reading, and the teacher doesn’t read it aloud.
Grading
Each lesson is automatically graded. Kids get immediate feedback when answering questions. They are told if the answer is correct, and the correct answer is shown on the screen if they get it wrong. CTCMath does not, however, explain why an answer is incorrect so you’ll want to go over them with your child.
The Best Part
To me, the best part is the price! When you purchase a membership, you get access to all of their math courses.
You can purchase a single membership ($78.80) or a family membership ($118.80). And, you get 6 months FREE when you purchase the annual membership. That means you can purchase math for your entire family for a little over $100!
