Practicing rhyming words doesn’t have to be boring! Change things up with this pack of One Fish Two Fish rhyming activities. It’s perfect for your homeschool preschool literacy lessons.
This low-prep activity pack is just one of many hands-on activities you can do alongside One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. These alphabet matching cards are another literacy activity you can do with this book.
Can your preschoolers help each fish find it’s fishbowl?
Read Dr. Seuss’s One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish to your preschoolers, and then let them practice rhyming with these One Fish Two Fish rhyming activities.
One Fish Two Fish Rhyming Activities
To set up this activity, all you will need is your printer, a laminator, and a paper cutter or scissors. You could also add velcro dots if you’d like.
Just print out the activity pack. Laminate the pages, and cut them apart so that you have 14 fish bowl mats and 56 fish cards.
I always print on cardstock and laminate for durability.
You could add velcro dots to each of the four corners on the fishbowl mats and on the back of each fish card, if you’d like. Lining up the velcro dots will help kids work on motor skills, but it’s totally optional.
I’ve included 14 different rhymes in this pack. Before setting up this activity, I suggest familiarizing yourself with all of the images and words. There is an answer key at the bottom of each page in case you need it.
Learners will spread out the fish and fishbowls. It’s up to you to decide how many to play at one time. You could start with one fishbowl mat and 8 rhyming cards for beginning learners. Or, you can lay them all out to challenge your older learners.
