Life Cycle of a Flower for Kids

This simple science pack is perfect for preschool and kindergarten students. It contains a life cycle poster, life cycle description cards, picture cards, and a cut and paste life cycle page for your young learners to complete.

When you pair this life cycle printable with some simple non-fiction books about flowers, you’ve got everything you need to spend some time learning about the life cycle of a flower.

HOW TO PREPARE THE WORKSHEETS

This is a low-prep activity pack which makes it easy to get ready for your curious kiddos. I suggest printing and laminating the poster, the description cards, and the picture cards. This will make them more durable and able to withstand use by preschoolers.

Print the cut and paste page on regular printer paper so kids can color and cut the page at the end of your lesson.

To start the lesson, I suggest reading one or more nonfiction books about flowers. Seed to Plant is great for young children. The real pictures and short informative text will help preschoolers understand how flowers grow.

After reading a book about flowers, show your kids the life cycle poster. Talk about each of the stages shown.

You can use the information cards to go into as much or as little detail as you’d like. I recommend using scientific terms where applicable. Preschoolers are little sponges ready to soak up new knowledge.

  1. Thank you for this beautiful resource. Actually, I am utilizing the life cycle picture cards as my “growth mindset” based PBIS behavior clip chart. The students don’t need to see sad faces, instead they are encouraged by the potential of starting their day as a seed and earning/growing their way up to the flower.
