Frog Math Game for Counting and Addition

Preschoolers will enjoy playing this hands-on frog math game to help them practice counting and addition to ten. This fun math frog game is a fantastic addition to your frog preschool lessons.

When my kids were younger we lived near a pond. We spent many spring and summer afternoons walking to the pond to see the frogs, turtles, and fish.

Now, we live near a creek, and we love to do the same. However, it’s been too cold to go explore. So, I’m spending my days longing for the warmer weather that will eventually come with spring.

While I wait, I’m having fun creating some fun preschool spring activities for you guys.

Today, your kids can practice counting and making ten (beginning addition) with this seasonal frog math game.

Frog Math Game for Counting and Addition Practice

All you need to do for this activity is print out the pages. If you want, you can laminate the two game boards. I’d print the addition recording page on regular paper.

You’ll also need a set of plastic frog counters or mini erasers. If you don’t have any, you can print out the frog cards included in this printable pack.

You’ll also need a dice. You could use a 10-sided dice to practice counting to ten or two 6-sided dice to practice counting to twelve. If you don’t have any dice on hand, you can print out the number cards included in this printable pack.

Frog Counting for Preschoolers

For younger preschoolers, you can focus on counting. Have your students roll the dice (or draw a number card). Count the dots on the dice. Then, add the same number of frog counters, frog cards, or mini erasers to the pond.

This is great practice for counting, subitizing, number identification, and one-to-one correspondence.

Adding Practice for Preschoolers

Preschoolers and kindergarteners can work on adding to ten with this portion of the frog math game printables.

Start with ten frog counters or mini erasers (or even green mini pom poms) in the boxes at the bottom of the page.

Have your child roll a dice (or draw a number card). Move the same amount of frogs to the pond, and write that number in the first blank in the equation on the recording page.

Now, have them add the remainder of the frogs to the pond – counting them as they do. Write this number on the second line in the equation on the recording page.

Once they’ve filled in all of the equations, they’ll have a good idea of all the ways to make ten.
