Farm Animal Puppets Printable
Are you looking for a fun new activity to add to your preschool farm theme? These puppets are just what you need!
There are a few different ways you can use these animal puppets in your lessons. I’ll share a few below.
Preparing the Puppets
You can print these pages on regular printer paper or cardstock (which is sturdier). You could also laminate them for durability.
Cut the finger puppets out individually.
Wrap the puppet around your child’s finger, and secure the open ends with glue or tape.
Learning About Farm Animals
This free printable offers a great opportunity to teach about farm animals. This worksheet includes a cow, pig, sheep, chick, and horse finger puppet.
Have children identify the animal. See if your preschooler can name the animal and the sound it makes. Teach the name of the adult and baby animal.
Use the finger puppets to act out the farm stories you read aloud with your preschoolers.
They can also be used to act out Old MacDonald Had a Farm. They can hold up the finger puppet that you mention in each stanza.

Mrs. Wishy-Washy’s Farm – Uh-oh. Mrs. Wishy-Washy is at it again. Rubbing and scrubbing all the animals on the farm. But this time they aren’t standing for it. Duck, Cow, and Pig are leaving mean old Mrs. Wishy-Washy for good!
Big Red Barn – Margaret Wise Brown’s simple, rhythmic text about the cycle of a day on a farm, where a family of animals peacefully plays and sleeps, has charmed generations of children.
Over on the Farm – Welcome to the farm, where pigs roll, goats nibble, horses gallop, hens peck, and turkeys strut! Count, clap, and sing along to the classic tune of “Over in the Meadow” while learning about life on a classic farm.
