Construction Site Sensory Bin
Sensory bins are a lot of fun for little children. They allow children to explore, imagine, and create while using their senses.
When you create sensory experiences based on your child’s interests, they are more likely to engage in the activity for longer.
Young boys and girls who love construction sites, vehicles, and all things transportation will love this particular sensory bin.
To set up this activity for your preschoolers, you’ll need the following items:
• A plastic container with a lid
• Play sand
• Twigs
• Rocks
• Flat Blue Marbles
• Small construction vehicles
Clean out your plastic bin, if it’s been used before. Fill it ⅓ full with play sand. You might even want to heap a little extra in one corner to create a hill.
Add several of the flat blue marbles to create a pond in another corner.
Place several twigs around the bin to create trees and logs for excavating.
Add rocks in assorted sizes and shapes around the bin.
Then, of course, add an assortment of vehicles (construction vehicles or regular cars and trucks).
Now, allow your child to dig, explore, and imagine. Let them enjoy the various textures and materials in the sensory bin.
When playtime is over, you can close the bin with the lid so that it can be used again on another day.
