Favorite Resources for Bible Study for Preschoolers

Digging into the Bible with preschoolers can be tricky but so rewarding. Here are some of my favorite resources for Bible study for preschoolers.

I have such fond memories of singing Bible songs with my kids when they were younger. We would play Bible songs in the car. We would snuggle up on the couch and read their kids’ Bible. We would check out Bible storybooks from the library. I spent years talking to them about Jesus and planting seeds in their hearts.

Digging into the Bible with preschoolers can be tricky. Their attention spans can be short. Bible concepts can sometimes be tough for little ones to understand. How can you study the Bible with squirmy, rambunctious preschoolers? Here’s a peek at some of my favorite resources!

Bibles for Preschoolers

My oldest, now 22, spent a few days in the hospital when he was two years old. My cousin came to visit us and brought him a copy of The Beginner’s Bible. We read that Bible until we split the spine. I read it to all three of my kids, and I have it tucked away for my grandkids.

Kids’ Bibles are a great way to introduce little ones to Bible stories. The pictures grab their attention. The stories are engaging. I’ve never met a kid who didn’t love hearing about Daniel being saved from the lions or Jonah being spit out by a whale!

Bible Studies for Preschoolers

A few years ago, I discovered Grapevine Studies. I wish I had access to these Bible studies when my kids were younger. They are designed to be used with the entire family starting at age 3. The whole family can learn the same lesson with study pages designed at their level.

The premise of Grapevine Studies is that the entire family studies the Bible together with lessons that take about 15-20 minutes each day. There are memory verses, maps, and more included in each lesson. The best part, though, is that the kids are asked to illustrate the lessons with stick figures. Kids don’t have to worry about their drawing skills!

Preschoolers can use the traceable pages instead of having to draw their own figures. That is a huge help for little ones in the beginning stages of writing. They get to participate with the “big kids” without that “I can’t do this” feeling!

Music and Videos

We always had a Bible song CD in the car when my kids were little. We would sing the songs over and over again. This Little Light of Mine. Jesus Loves Me. These songs bring back so many memories, and planted seeds of God’s Word in their little hearts.

Another favorite was our Bible story videos. We are HUGE fans of Veggie Tales! Even as teens, my boys loved watching Veggie Tales with their little sister. We also enjoyed our Beginner Bible videos which brought our Bible stories to life.
