When my kids were little, I loved rocking them at night. The smell of a freshly bathed toddler or preschooler, a favorite bedtime story, a song or two and a prayer. These are certainly some of my fondest memories of my little ones.
One of the first songs I sang to them and that they learned to sing themselves, was “Jesus Loves Me.” Oftentimes, I would insert their names into the lyrics so they would personalize the message that Jesus loves them. “Jesus loves you this I know…”
Jesus Loves Me
Today, as we head into Valentine’s weekend, here is a fun little craft you can do with your preschooler. It’s a quick and easy last-minute idea that leaves your kids with a BIG message.
With minimal supplies and the printable in this post, you’ll be all set. All you will need to complete this craft is construction paper, my printable, and something to color with. We used crayons, but you could use markers, chalks, or colored pencils.
Print out my “Jesus Loves You” page. Have your little ones trace around the heart shape using a different color each time around. The trick is to break up the trace when your kids reach the printed border.
If your little ones aren’t in to coloring, they can decorate their message with heart stickers or do-a-dot markers. This is a very open-ended project. The important part is the message itself that Jesus loves them very much!
This craft is the perfect activity to go along with Jesus Loves Me by Laura Logan. The lyrics of the song are on the bottom of each page of this sweet board book. Read it. Sing in. Say it all the time. Let your little ones know that Jesus loves them!
